What you read, watch and hear will influence your perceptions, actions, and behaviors.
I saw "Julie and Julia" today. It reminded me of the importance of taking a first step, setting a goal and meeting it. The movie demonstrated a perfect example of how you never even need to meet your "mentor". Your mentor can inspire and influence and teach you through their writings, behaviors, beliefs, and commitments to accomplish their own goal. They can be as influential as some mentors who work with you directly.
The story: Julie was inspired by Julia Child. She wanted to write. Her husband said write a blog. Julie decided to prepare all 536 recipes in Julia's cook book and set a goal to complete the task in 365 days. She wrote a blog about her goal as it progressed. She followed her plan, and completed her goal with a dinner celebration on day 365.
By starting, doing and completing her goal, her blog not only turned into a book but also became the movie, "Julie and Julia". Her mentor helped her along the way - though Julia Child didn't even know the influence she had on Julie.
What is your goal? What is keeping you from taking that first step? Do you fear failure, success or criticism from others?
Do you have a mentor to inspire and or guide you to succeed? If not, get one! It works.
Today is the time to start on your goal, dream, or project. No one is going to do it for you. Put all the excuses aside and take action.
You CAN do it - take that first step today!
